Four Sisters
女巫四姊妹同進同出
但怎麼總是有個落單的呢~~
原來是最小的妹妹太容易忘東忘西了!
The witches had a meeting
on the 21st of June and decided they’d go
riding
in and out around
the moon. So they gathered all together in the corner
of the room. But the witches’ little
sister forgot
to bring
her broom.
They sent her back to get it, and she brought
it to the room. It was frazzled
and bedraggled,
an unbewitching
sort
of the broom. They didn’t think she’d
make it going up there to the moon. But
the little witch insisted she’d be with them very soon.
Then they started to get ready. They put all their gear in stacks. They had broomsticks, cats, and lanterns
and just ordinary
packs. When they got it all toghther, they sat
down to have a chat. But the
witches’ little sister forgot to bring her hat.
They sent her off to get it. She looked puzzled and she frowned. Wherever had she put it? She looked outside on the ground. She looked upstairs in the closet. She looked underneath the mat. And finally she found it. She found her witch’s hat.
They trooped out to the launch
pad
at the edge
of Shadow
Lake. When the little witch remembered
a fact
the made her shake. They were almost
set for take- off. The lake was calm
and flat. But the witches’ little sister forgot to
bring her cat.
She looked upstairs and downstairs. She looked underneath her bed. Then she finally remembered it was hiding
in the shed. When she ran back out to get it, it was hissing
at a rat. But the witches’ little sister
just had to bring her cat.
Out there at the launch pad there were
witches in a line. The
broomsticks were all ready and the cats were doing fine. Oh, the witches they were ready to take
off
into the night. But the witches’ little
sister forgot to bring her light.
She hurried to the workshop
which was somewhere
in the back. She grabbed the nearest lantern
and put it in her pack. Her hat was tipping
slightly
and she held on to the light as she rode off on her broomstick into the starry
night.
I was beginning to think
the witches’ little sister would never go for a ride. How about you? ______________________________________
Would you like to have
this little witch as your little sister?
______________
What you do if she came to
live in your house?

Let us think of another
person to use instead of little sister.
I could use big
brother, or jolly uncle or twin cousins. Maybe you thought of someone else. I think I’ll use jolly uncle. That means I also have to change her to his
in the last line.
Let’s hear how the verse
sounds with my own words in it:
So
they gathered all together in the corner of the room. But the witches’ jolly uncle forgot to
bring his broom.
That sounds terrific. I like being a writer.
Now it’s your turn. You need to choose the new person and the
word to describe that person, like jolly.
Write your verse with your own words added.
